William Page

William Polson Page, 85 away peacefully in the embrace of his family October 2, 2008. Commander Page was a 23 year veteran of the U.S. Navy. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis Maryland in 1944 and served in the Pacific on the battleship USS Alabama until the end of World War 2. After the war he became a naval aviator serving with numerous naval aviation units including the Hurricane Hunters based in Jacksonville Florida and he flew planes that patrolled the arctic circle in support of the DEW line during the cold war. In 1963 he assumed command of the Airborne Early Warning Training Unit for the Atlantic theater in Patuxent River Naval air station in Patuxent river Maryland, consisting of 8 aircraft, over 400 enlisted men and 90 officers.
After his retirement from the Navy, Commander Page obtained his masters degree in hospital administration and served as administrator in the Baptist Hospital system in Knoxville Tennessee, Louisville Kentucky, Birmingham Alabama and Cullman Alabama.
After retiring from his second career Mr. Page traveled with his wife Marise and enjoyed spending time with his growing family of grand children and great grand children. He was married to Marise Smith Page for 64 years.
He is survived by his wife Marise, three children William B. Page, Vance Wray Page and Perri Lynn Page; ten grand children Brian Lee Page of Hollywood Maryland, Jennifer Page Diguiseppe of Wilmington Delaware, Jonathan Michael Page of Mount Juliet Tennessee, Jason Wray Page of Knoxville Tennessee, Jessica Kate Page of Huntington Beach California, Kindel Page of Mascot Tennessee, Kori Page of Mascot Tennessee, Kameron Page of Mascot Tennessee, Kinsey Page of Mascot Tennessee and Dana Michael Thompson of Nashville, Tennessee. Three great grand children, Jack Diguiseppe of Wilmington Delaware, Sophia Rose Diguiseppe of Wilmington Delaware and Austin Michael Thompson of Nashville, Tennessee.
