William King

Born in Melbourne, KY on July 20, 1930 Departed on November 30, 2008 and resided in Hendersonville, TN

William Edgar "Bill" King, age 78 died after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Bill served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve from January, 1951 to January, 1954, during the Korean War. He retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. after 39 and one half years of dedicated service. He was a fourth degree knight in the Knights of Columbus Council 9132 in Hendersonville and will be honored for his participation in the "Catholic Media Productions" on December 11, 2008 at Saint Ann's Catholic Church by Bishop David Chopy and Jim Walsh . Bill's favorite pastimes were traveling with his family and his devoted wife, Rose, playing golf, pool and tennis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Dorothy Ellison King and his brothers, Paul, Jim and Bernard King. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rosetta Ashburn King; his sons, William, Jr. Lilibeth and David Kelly; his daughters, Diana Gary Marlar, Deborah Horn and Darlene Ricky Anderson; his grandchildren, Chad and Jeffrey Rediker, Melissa Limbaugh, Ashley Griffith, Kelly Jones, Weston and Jamie King; his great grandchildren, Madeline Rediker and Kylie Griffith; his brother, Charles Jo Ann King and his sisters, Dottie Cuthrell and Marilyn Trutschel. A funeral mass will be held 12 P.M., Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Father Eric Fowlkes and Father William Bevington officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation from 10 A.M. until the time of service at the church. A memorial service will be held at 1 P.M., Saturday, Dec 6, 2008 at the St. Phillips Church in Melbourne, KY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Sumner County Hospice, 510 East Main Street, Gallatin, TN 37066.
