William Cantrell

CANTRELL, William Wallace "Polly" Age 90, Nashville, March 14, 2009. Preceded in death by parents, William and Carrie Cantrell; sisters, Dorothy Carlton, Florine Gossett and Sara Osborne; granddaughter, Katie Cantrell. Survived by spouse, Mary Katherine Cantrell; daughters, Pat Dick Bess, Peggy Rufus Brewer and Kathy Mike Poplin; son, Wally Trelba Cantrell; 12 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren. He was retired from Avco Corp after 35 years and was an avid golfer. He sang in a gospel quartet and a Barbershop quartet for years. He was a member of Toast Masters International. He was the first 4-letter athlete at Bellevue High School. He also was a Charter Member of West Meade Fellowship and attended West Nashville Cumberland Presbyterian Church for 74 years and taght Sunday School class for years. The funeral service will be at 10 am Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at West Harpeth Funeral Home, conducted by Bro. Bob Pearce. Family will serve as pallbearers. Interment at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimers Association, 4205 Hillsboro Rd #216, Nashville, TN 37215 or American Cancer Society, 2000 Charlotte Ave. Nashville, TN, 37203.
