EVANS, Thomas Alfred – Age 89 of Hendersonville passed away on November 7, 2012. It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved father and grandfather. Our loss is immense but we are comforted to know Dad is now reunited with Mom. He will be deeply missed but forever in our hearts. He is survived by his seven children, thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren; a brother and a sister. Tom was one of eight children, born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania on July 21, 1923 to Stanley and Sophia Evans. He was introduced through a mutual friend to our mother and they married in October 1944 while Tom was in the Army Air Force as a celestial navigation flight and technical training instructor. Tom was a proud graduate of Bucknell University and enjoyed a long career with the General Electric Company as a Financial Analyst in Schenectady, N.Y and Fort Wayne, IN. In 1976 Tom's career with General Electric brought the family to Hendersonville, TN. After retirement Tom was active in real estate. Tom served as a Board Member and Vice-Chairman of The American Cancer Society, Community Child Care Services, Senior Citizens Center and Friends of Rock Castle. He was also a Facilitator at Careers Network, and a Rotary Member. As a parishioner at Our Lady of the Lake he was active with Room at the Inn, Adoration and Emmaus. Tom was a natural entertainer and gifted story teller. His love of song and dance gave him great joy and he shared these passions with his family. He had a phenomenal catalog of music and lyrics committed to memory and frequently applied music to any given situation. Without a doubt, he always had a song in his heart. Visitation at Hendersonville Memorial Gardens will be Sunday, November 11 from 3-6pm and a service will be held Monday at 2pm at Our Lady of the Lake Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you honor Tom through a donation to the Arthritis National Research Foundation or your local Animal Rescue League.
