Terry Donald Freeman, beloved husband, father, and esteemed member of the law enforcement community, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2024, in Nashville, Tennessee. Born on October 5, 1948, in Claremore, Oklahoma, Terry lived a life marked by dedication, service, and deep affection for his family and community. Terry devoted 43 years to a distinguished career in law enforcement, with 28 of those years served as Police Chief in Arvin, CA, and Bear Valley Springs, CA. His commitment to justice and safety earned him numerous awards and accolades, including specialized training at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia. His career was more than a job; it was a calling that he approached with unwavering dedication. Outside of his professional life, Terry was a weekend cowboy who cherished his time on horseback at the Loop Ranch. His love for the mountains, cattle, and hunting were reflections of his adventurous spirit and deep connection to nature. Terry's educational journey included earning an associate degree in law enforcement, which laid the foundation for his remarkable career. His commitment to community extended beyond his professional duties; he was known for his active volunteer work and involvement in local events. Terry was a devoted family man, cherished by his wife Helen Freeman of 56 years and their daughter Amy Freeman. He was predeceased by his parents, Odis Coy and Lois Louise Freeman, and his sisters, Patsy Ann Lackey and Linda Gayle Venable. Terry’s family remembers him fondly as "Candyman," a nickname given by his nieces and nephews for his tradition of handing out candy and his loving presence at family gatherings. His deep faith and love for singing in church were central to his life, reflecting his devotion to the Lord and his family. A Celebration of Life will be held on September 6, 2024, at Springfield Memorial Gardens, Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 4005 Memorial Blvd, Springfield, Tennessee. Visiting hours will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. The service will conclude at 12:00 p.m. Terry’s legacy of service, love, and faith will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those he touched.
