With a smile on her face, Sharon Michelle Wadkins Gaines, age 49 of Springfield, passed away into the arms of her Creator in the early hours of Wednesday, October 28.

Sharon was the daughter of the late Clifford Wadkins and Louise Wadkins Kerr. She was a graduate of Greenbrier High School and worked in Real Estate with her mother.

Sharon was a child of God. Throughout her life, and throughout her illness, her faith kept her strong and with a smile on her face. She was simply the light in any room. She loved people and enjoyed reading, coloring and shading with pencils, and "looking good" anytime, especially when good news was given to her during difficult times.

Sharon loved dogs and enjoyed nature. She kept birds drawn to her home with feeders and created a place where God was honored and nature was appreciated.

She is survived by her husband and friend: Kenneth Gaines of Springfield; mother & step-father: Louise Wadkins Kerr and Jerry Kerr of Fountain Run, KY; step-children: Aaron Benson and Ashley Benson of Greenbrier, Cory Gaines of Springfield, Brandy Gaines of Hendersonville and Tyler Gaines of Springfield.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4-7 PM, and again Friday from 10-11 AM for visitation at Springfield Memorial Gardens, Funeral Home & Cremation Center. A Celebration of Life will be conducted Friday at 11 AM in the chapel of Springfield Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Garden of the Four Gospels at Springfield Memorial Gardens.
