Sam Welch, age 84 of Greenbrier and formerly of West Nashville, passed away October 19, 2016. Sam was born on August 8, 1932 in Nashville to the late Samuel Welch and Effie Lou Smith Welch. Sam was the best husband and dad a family could have; he was a loving and giving man and always had something funny to say to everybody. He and his family were longtime members of Centenary United Methodist Church in West Nashville for many years where he was a youth counselor; after moving to Robertson County they became members of Greenbrier United Methodist Church. He worked at Ralston Purina for 29 years and after retirement owned and operated Mini Tee in West Nashville. "Heaven's gain is our loss." He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Janie "Bea" Welch; children, Ron (Nancy) Welch and Kathy (Dave) Randolph; 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. A Life Celebration honoring Sam will be held on Saturday, October 22nd at 4:00 P.M. from the Chapel of Springfield Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Robinson officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1-4 P.M. Interment will be on Monday, October 24th at 11:00 A.M. in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Nashville. Flowers will be accepted; however memorial donations may be made to Greenbrier UMC or Centenary UMC.
