SANDERS, Rudolph Edwin Rudy, Papoo 11/12/1936 to 7-21-2011. Heaven celebrates as Rudy goes home to his Father after passing from this life. Rudy was born in Cleveland, Tennessee to Reginald and Hazel Sanders. He graduated magna cum laude from David Lipscomb College and then obtained his masters at Peabody. He returned to David Lipscomb where he was a professor of art and photography for 28 years. He was a faithful member of the Church of Christ, a true Christian educator and was admired and respected by his students and fellow colleagues. Rudy held several positions as a preacher in the Church at congregations in Burns, Five Points, Lewisburg and Flynns Lick Tennessee. He loved preaching God's word and celebrated each time someone turned their life over to Christ. He created award-winning carved, painted and printed artwork and was also a photographer for Nashville Magazine. Rudy is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary Jo, his son, Eddie and daughter, Leigh, Grandchildren Dolci and Chaney Sanders, Mckenna and Landreth Smith; sister, Marie Cody; brother, Jerry Sanders. Active Pallbeaers will be Ron Benedict, Steve Gore, Billy Law, Eddie Sanders, Bret Smith and Bob Spain. Honorary Pallbearers are Sid Dorris and Landreth Smith. Visitation will be held for family and friends at the Harpeth Hills Funeral Home, 9090 Hwy. 100 on Sunday 1 to 5 and Monday 12 to 1 with services following. With James Watkins and Bill Watkins officiating. The family suggests memorials to be directed to India Mission Fund, c/o Jack Honeycutt, 2895 Free State Road, Gainesville, TN 38562.
