Roy James Shepherd, age 91 of Greenbrier passed away on February 26, 2023, at NHC in Springfield.
He was born on May 8, 1931, to the late Nick and Minnie (Nixon) Shepherd in Springfield, TN. Roy worked at the Springfield Woolen Mill for many years before starting his 35-year career as a Typesetter at Dixie Electrotype Company. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, sports enthusiast, and artist. Roy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
In addition to his parents, Roy is preceded in death by his five siblings, son Roy James Shepherd, Jr., daughter, Paula K. Shepherd, and stepdaughter, Valerie Mann Chowaniec.
Roy is survived by his wife, Helen B. Shepherd; daughters, Pamela (Richard) Ingram Eaves, Patricia Blain, and Perrie (Mark) Robertson; daughter-in-law, Teresa Shepherd; stepchildren, Russell (Janice) Mann, Carolynn (Jeff) Jaco, and Mark (Debbie) Mann and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A Life Celebration will be held on Thursday, March 2nd at 1 pm in the chapel of Springfield Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Springfield Memorial Gardens with Dustin Shepherd, Mark Robertson, Charles Blain, Terrence Ingram, Josh Davis, Blake Ingram, Will Ellis, and Daniel Robertson serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Richard Eaves, Brandon Ingram, Russell Mann, and Mark Mann. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11 am until the time of service.
