Randy Berry

Randy J. Berry, age 61 of Springfield, went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 18th, 2020 with his wife by his side.

Randall Jay Berry was born on August 26th, 1958 to the late RJ and Loretta Evans Berry in Flint, Michigan. Randy was in the United States Marine Corps from 1980 thru 1984. The Marines motto "Semper Fidelis" meaning "Always Faithful" was applied to all areas of his life as he was faithful to his Lord and Savior first and always faithful and devoted to his soul mate Ms. Wilma Jean Berry. They married on November 26th, 1993 proclaiming his unwavering love to his wife and their families. They enjoyed many outdoor adventures over the years traveling to places like Bledsoe Creek and Dale Hollow, camping underneath the stars. Cruising their Goldwing was a favorite pastime for Randy and Jean.

He was described as a funny and honest person that was also transparent, you always knew where you stood with him. Randy was helpful and had the heart of a servant, if you needed help or if something was broken, you called "Pop." No matter the situation Randy was there not only to help, but also show you how. He wanted to build you up as a person and also teach you, that you can fix almost anything with the right tools and determination.

Randy and Jean enjoyed volunteering their time during the summer at church camp over a span of 15 years. He loved his Hillcrest Church of Christ family and was known as the "Candyman." During church services Randy was a Greeter and would take attendance. While making his rounds he was known to help soothe a crying baby, at times taking them on a walk or rock them to sleep. He was a great baby whisperer and gave the best hugs to the older congregation.

Randy's love came bursting from him in a way that you knew it without a shadow of a doubt. He wanted the people around him happy and would keep after you until he made your day better. This and his faithfulness to family will be just a few of the many memories they will treasure for years to come.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Slate Berry of 26 years; children, Ryan (Maho) Berry, Jayme Lynn Berry, and Elizabeth Smith; grandchildren, Cody (Brittany) Smith, Andrew Smith and Abbie Smith; great-grandson, Slader Smith and Randy's siblings, Debbie (Jim) Schimbke, Lora Raymer, Jayson (Tabatha) Berry and a host of nephews and nieces.
