Phineas Raydean Dorris, Sr., left this world on Sunday, March 13, 2016 at St Thomas Hospital West, in Nashville, Tennessee.
Mr. Dorris was born on September 17, 1947 to the late James Wesley and Lulla Belle Dorris in Pleasant View, Tennessee.
He was described as a strong, smart, dependable, trustworthy man that worked hard for his family. Mr. Dorris enjoyed working on cars, tractors, fishing and riding four-wheelers with his grandchildren. When he was able to take vacation he loved to visit the Smokey Mountains, Las Vegas and Florida.
The holidays were always a joyful time at his house, especially during Christmas, which was his favorite holiday. One of the family's favorite memories was when Mr. Dorris going dances and his listening to country music. He worked for 25 years as the Plant Manager at American Limestone until his retirement to spend more time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Dorris is preceded in death by his brothers, Porter Dorris, Gerald Dorris, and Roy Biggs; and sisters, Dolly Parther and Flora Belle Dorris.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Dorothy Dorris; children, Micheal "Bubba" (Vicki) Dorris, Barbara (Mike) McDonald, Phineas (Tina) Dorris, Jr., Joyce (Terry) Fussell, and James(Lauree) Dorris; siblings, Wesley (Lillian) Dorris, Sr., Francis (Clifford) Smith and Marie Matherly; and great grandchildren, Rhys, Amaritha, Abigail Rose, Olivia, Brylie, Karlie, Logan, and Sawyer.
A Life Celebration will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, March 17th at Springfield Funeral Home with Pastor Phil Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Springfield Memorial Gardens with his grandchildren serving as pallbearers, Joshua Fussell, Nicholas Fussell, Austin Biggs, Caden "CJ" Dorris, Bryce Dorris, Dylan Dorris, Logan Dorris and Colton Contella; and honorary pallbearers, Chelsea Dorris, Kellie Ward, Emma McDonald, Shane McDonald, Caleb Dorris, Delanyee Contella, and Zackary Biggs. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 16th, from 2:00 - 8:00pm then again on Thursday from 10:00am until the time of service.
