Peggy Watts Gower Smith- Age 83 passed away May 7, 2014.
Mrs. Smith was a strong determined woman who was serious & spirited on her views of life. She was also a very caring & generous woman. She was a Christian woman who was a member of Hendersonville Free Will Baptist Church. She retired from Oscar Mayer after 18 years of service. She loved flower gardening, reading, cooking & baking for her family and friends. She was also very passionate about animals and enjoyed spending time with her pets.
Preceded in death by her parents, Hazel & Jesse Newton "Jack" Watts; husbands, Ronald I. Gower & Richard W. Smith; sisters, Rose Watts & Jacqueline Watts; brothers, Hubert Watts, Clovis Watts, Kenneth Watts. Survived by children, Susan Owen (Buck) of Hendersonville, TN, Claudia Bickerstaff (Andy) of Monteagle, TN, Rhonda York (Roger) of Portland, David Gower (Nancy) of Cartersville, GA; grandchildren, Jeffrey Womack, Crystal Main, Amy York-Pitts, Scott Roach, Matthew York, Justin Roach, Wesley Gower & Jackson Gower; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Donald Watts. The family wishes to thank Emeritus at Main Street for the wonderful care they provided over the years.
A Life Celebration will be held 10am Saturday, May 10th at Hendersonville Funeral Home with Pastor Eddie Hodges officiating. Family will serve as pallbearers. Entombment will follow at Hendersonville Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 4:00pm - 8:00pm Friday at Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Cumberland Crisis Pregnancy Center (2229 Nashville Pike Gallatin, TN 37066) or the Humane Society of Sumner County (16 Volunteer Drive Hendersonville, TN 37075).
