Michael F. Plankers, age 74 of Springfield, passed away on June 6, 2016 at Christian Care Center.
He was born on February 5, 1942 to the late Dewey A. and Lorraine Plankers in Paso Robles, California.
In 1960, Mr. Plankers joined the United States Army right out of high school where he spent the next 20 years serving his country. During his military career he was Special Forces during the Vietnam War, part of the Military Police and later becoming a Logistic Specialist and then retired an E-8 Master Sergeant in 1980 and received a Bronze Star. Mr. Plankers was a generous, kind and loving person. He worked hard for his family and would help anyone he could. In his spare time he enjoyed riding his bicycle and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Plankers is preceded in death by his infant son Brandon Plankers, and two brothers Dewey Patrick Plankers and Robert Plankers.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Patricia Faye Plankers; children Michael L. (Karen) Plankers, Patrick Plankers, James Plankers, Lorrie Palmer and Alan (Fowna) Plankers; grandchildren, Alexis (Donovan) Dykes, Cody Allen Plankers, Taylor Plankers, Drake Plankers, Allaura Wile, Eli Palmer, Cori Plankers, Bryce Woods, and Morgan Wile; great- grandchild, Bryceson Dykes, and sisters Linda Maloyed, Sharon Plankers and Deborah Massie.
A Life Celebration Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 11th, from 2-8pm at Springfield Memorial Gardens, Funeral Home and Cremation Center: 4005 Memorial Blvd Springfield, Tennessee. 615-384-5437.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Adairville Baptist Church 327 W. Gallatin Street, Adairville, KY 42202
