Mary Bennett Murrey, age 67 of Greenbrier passed away on Friday, September 20, 2019 at Vanderbilt Medical Center.
She was born Mary Irene Bennett to the late Virdie and Mary Catherine Bennett in Fort Benning, Georgia.
Mrs. Murrey was described as a compassionate and caring woman that loved to make people smile and laugh by dressing up as a clown for family birthday parties. She worked for ten years as a tutor in the Metro School System and she eventually became the librarian at Nashville School of the Arts until she retired. Mrs. Murrey was deeply spiritual enjoying all types of Christian music and reading her Bible. Weekends were spent with her family and grandchildren making memories that will last a lifetime.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Murrey is preceded in death by her brother, Mark Bennett.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Bill Murrey; children, Josh (Erin) Murrey, Sol Murrey, Michael Murrey and Sara Campbell; grandchildren, David Murrey, Joshua Murrey, Nicholas Murrey, Sebastian Moore, Robert Moore, Preston Murrey, Allyssa Murrey, Sadie Murrey, Aidan Murrey, Copeland Murrey, Cade Kelly, and Christopher Campbell; and siblings, George Bennett, Paul Bennett, Annabell DerryBerry, Paula Cole and Scott Bennett.
A Life Celebration will be held on Wednesday, September 25th at 11am in the Chapel of Springfield Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Springfield Memorial Gardens with family serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 24th from 5-8pm then again on Wednesday from 9am until the time of service.
