Mary Birdwell

BIRDWELL, Mary Jo Underwood age 75 of Nashville, TN. Passed away on October 25, 2009. Mrs. Birdwell was retired from Metro department of Education where she taught special education at Gower, Cockrill, Harpeth Valley Elementary and Bellevue Middle School. She opened her home up to over 20 homeless and abused children and caring for them as her own. She taught many Sunday school classes at Parkwood, West End and Bellevue Church of Christ. She is survived by her sons, Jack Gary Lee Ann Underwood, Michael Gregory Melese Underwood; grandchildren, Rachel, Alex, Nicholas, Alyessa Underwood. Funeral services will be on Tuesday at 11 am at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home with Calvin Parker officiating. Visitation will be on Monday from 4-8 pm at HARPETH HILLS FUNERAL HOME, 9090 HWY 100, 615 646-9292.
