Martha Pearl "Kandie" Jerrell

Martha Pearl “Kandie” Jerrell, a beloved member of her community, passed away on December 4, 2024, in Nashville, Tennessee. Kandie was known for her jovial spirit, kindness, and a touch of stubbornness that endeared her to family and friends alike. She was born on May 13, 1946 to the late William Olen and Doris Harvey in Scott, Arkansas. 

Born with a creative flair, Kandie excelled in her passion for embroidery, turning her talent into cherished gifts that she sold, sharing her artistry with those around her. Her love for literature, particularly the heartfelt works of Nicholas Sparks, provided her with joy and solace throughout her life.

Kandie carried the values of education and perseverance beyond her years, laying a firm foundation for the life she built with her beloved husband, Ralph. Kandie and Ralph’s love story began when she was just 18 years old. It was a trip to California to visit her sister that changed her life forever—the moment she fell in love with Ralph at first sight marked the beginning of a profound partnership. They pursued each other with passion and married shortly after, eventually settling in Indiana. Together, they cultivated not only the land, growing corn, but also a family that would become the cornerstone of their lives.

In January 1986, Kandie and Ralph made the adventurous decision to move to Nashville, a city that grew to be a beloved home. Kandie embraced her surroundings and sought out new experiences, traveling to treasured destinations such as Savannah, Santa Fe, New Orleans, and Washington, D.C. A true explorer at heart, she delighted in discovering new places as well as revisiting those she cherished.

Kandie is survived by her dear husband, Ralph Jerrell; children, Laura (Mark) Stephens and Gregory Scott (Jaqueline) Jerrell; grandchildren, Riley Aaron (Rose) Carroll, Delaney Stephens and Dylan Jerrell; Great- Grandson, Otis Carroll.

Kandie’s legacy is one of love and warmth, characterized by her pleasant demeanor and a deep affection for those she held dear. She will be remembered not only for her vibrant personality but also for the memories she created and the lives she touched. She leaves behind a heartfelt void in the lives she influenced and will always be cherished in the hearts of family and friends.

A life celebration will be held on Monday, December 9th at 10 am with Pastor Jeff Kelley. Visitation with the family will be on Sunday, December 8th from 4-8pm then again on Monday from 9am until the time of service. Burial will follow at Springfield Memorial Gardens.
