Marie King age 75 of Springfield, passed away on July 18, 2020 at NHC in Hendersonville.
She was born on October 9, 1944 to the late Porter Benton and Gennetter McClain Benton in Orlinda, Tennessee. Marie was a 1962 graduate at Bransford High School and worked for many years as a Home Health Provider through ResCare.
Marie was described as an easy-going person she loved her family and loved her friends. Marie was baptized in 1972 as one of Jehovah Witnesses and attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses in Springfield. She loved cultivating relationship there and also where she worked. Through her hard work and determination, she bought a beautiful home on the corner. This home became a place of not only fellowship with her neighbors but also a place of memories for her children. You could find her most evenings reading her Bible and other biblical publications.
Marie also enjoyed traveling with her family on cruises to tropical destinations like Puerto Rico, Jamaica and even state side to Niagara Falls. Summers always brought time spent with Darrell as they traveled to different cities that held the Annual Convention or just a nice weekend to spend shopping with Yolanda and the grandchildren. Another favorite memory was the days Marie would wait at the end of the drive way as her granddaughter got off the bus. She would be waiting with a smile and hug after a long day at school.
Her dedication to her family and her faith will be just a few of the wonderful memories treasured by the family for years to come.
In addition to her parents, Marie is preceded in death by her grandson, Brent King and siblings, Eunice Pulliam and Gennell Darden.
She is survived by her children, Darrell (Brandi) King of Springfield and Yolanda Crenshaw of Mt Juliet; grandchildren Brandon King, LaTronya Roberts, Alanah Crenshaw, Sydnei Crenshaw, Collin King and Kolbi King; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Pitt and Brayden Pitt and brother, Robert (Dorothy) Benton.
