Myra Lettie Jean Ross Stroud, born May 10, 1937, passed away at home April 27,2023. Lettie was born in Dover, Tn. to the late James Russell Ross and Ione Olean Reid Ross. She is pre-deceased by her spouse, Grover Charles Stroud, her beloved son Grover Charles Stroud, Jr., as well as by siblings Byron Ross, Velma Ross Davis, Vernon Ross, Louise Ross Hodge, Harold Ross and Ronald Ross.
Lettie was an avid gardener and bird watcher, but second to Grover, her love and devotion was to Orlinda Baptist Church and her treasured “girls” in her Sunday School Class (please note all the girls are above 20 yrs. of age!).
She graduated from Coopertown High School in 1955, then worked in Nashville at the Third National Bank. She and Grover married on November 11,1955, and shortly after he was drafted into the Army where he served at Fort Knox, Ky. As well as Fort Polk, Louisiana. Their first child Connie was born at Fort Knox, and by the time he was discharged in May 1959 and moved to Nashville their second child Cathy was due.
Lettie worked as an Insurance Underwriter Supervisor for Aetna Ins. Co. until Charles was born in July of 1964. At this point, they were outnumbered, and she became a very busy full-time housewife and mother. The final of “The Four C’s” arrived in January 1968, the forever and always baby of the family, Chris.
Lettie and Grover decided to leave their subdivision in Hermitage Hills and rear their family on a farm, moving to Lamont in December 1972.
Once her chicks left the nest, Lettie attended Volunteer State Community College obtaining a degree in Medical Terminology while working as an evening shift supervisor at Nagles factory. Using her degree, she worked at Vanderbilt University Hospital in peri-operative services until her retirement at age 67.
They sold the farm and built their dream home in Orlinda in 2000 where they lived out the rest of their lives.
They are survived by children, Connie (Ed) Coleman, Cathy (Pat) Cunningham and Christopher (Angie) Stroud; daughter-in-law, Julie Stroud; survived by grandchildren Jackie Stroud Williams (Jerremy), Patrick Cunningham (Maya), Evan Cunningham (Courtney), Rachel Cunningham Bibb (Jacob), Seth Stroud (Julia), James Coleman, Amelia Stroud, and Lucas Stroud.
