Lawrence R. "Pete" Heck, age 81 of Gallatin, formerly of Indianapolis, IN, passed away April 18, 2009. Mr. Heck served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper during World War II. A devoted husband, father and family man, he co-founded Heck Brothers Concrete and later started his own company, Pete Heck Concrete in Indianapolis, IN, which he operated for many years. He was a passionate follower and supporter of the thoroughbred industry and he raised several thoroughbred horses as well. He also held a brown belt in judo. Mr. Heck is survived by his son, Rocky Heck; his daughter, Susie Karns; his brothers, Jack, Dean and Pat Heck; his sister, Lillian Kenairm; his granddaughters, Jessica Temple and Jennifer Thompson; his grandson, Michael Odum; and his great grandson, Langton Temple. A private memorial service will be held in Indianapolis, IN.
