Lawrence Edward Binger

Lawrence Edward Binger passed peacefully from this life on July 21, 2024 at the age of 87.

Larry was born in Oakhurst, NJ, on April 16, 1937, to the late Lawrence A. and Cora Fliedner Binger.

From a young age, Larry had a passion for adventure and exploring which led to lifelong hobbies of motorcycle racing, deep sea diving, and travel.

His adventure began, at the age of 17, when he enlisted in the United States Navy.

Larry became a lineman for Jersey Central Power and Light shortly after leaving the Navy. He spent a few years in New Jersey before moving to Arizona to become a high voltage electrician. During his time in New Jersey, he met and married the love of his life, Penny Tweedie.

They were married for 43 years, until Penny's passing in 2012.

His passion for travel and his electrical experience led him to a long career with the federal government. He began working for the Department of Defense as a foreman for the electrical shop. His first duty station was on the U.S. Naval Air Station in Bermuda from 1979 to 1987. After spending a brief time in Charleston, SC, he transferred to the U.S Department of State to become a Facilities Manager. Larry and Penny lived and worked in many wonderful places: Niamey, Niger, Africa; Tel Aviv, Israel; Washington D.C.; and Santiago, Chile.

After retiring in 2002, Larry and Penny moved to Sparta, TN to be near family and several childhood friends. In his retirement he enjoyed going out to eat, watching NASCAR, the NY Giants play football and working on his 1960's model Chevy truck.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Penny, his sisters, Marilyn Measure and Lauren Binger and his brother Craig Binger.

Larry is survived by his daughter, Lara (Joe) Salsman, son Bill (Shirley) Kennedy, grandsons, Bobby and Chris Kennedy, Evan and Griffin Salsman, six great grand children, and two beloved nieces. Larry will be deeply missed by his family and friends who loved him.

in respect for Mr. Binger's wishes, there will be no service. His family will never stop celebrating his life.
