Mrs. Laverne Lemley, 95, of Morgan City, passed away on September 23, 2024 at her daughter's home in Tennessee after a brief illness.
She was born February 26, 1929 in Morgan County, to Hubert and Ethel Morrow. She was a 1948 graduate of Huntsville High School and married Chester Lee Lemley in 1951. They were married 50 years until his death in 2002.
Mrs. Lemley was a homemaker who enjoyed puzzles, sewing, reading and traveling with her family. She was a 50-year member of Rescue Methodist Church in Morgan City.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Lemley was preceded in death by her only sister, Billie Jean Hudson in 2022.
Mrs. Lemley is survived by two daughters, Sheila Luth (Don) of Joelton, Tennessee and Charlotte Parker of Morgan City, four grandchildren: Desire Hopwood (Bobby) and Clara Blunk (Donnie) of Tennessee and Jeremy Parker (Hillery) of Somerville, and Tony Parker (Sarah) of Huntsville, in addition to 11 great grandchildren and one great- great grandson.
Mrs. Lemley chose to be cremated and there will be a memorial service on October 6, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Rescue Methodist Church on Rescue Road in Morgan City.
