VEZNER, Ken, 90, passed away peacefully in his sleep at 7am Sunday, at Williamson Medical Center. He lived in Franklin, Tennessee, spending summers on Lake Koronis in Paynesville, Minnesota. He is preceded in death by his wife of nearly 60 years, Harriet Vezner, and survived by son Jon Vezner, sister Jean Boyd, daughter-in-law Kathy Mattea Vezner, caregivers and friends Rose Bishop and Ellen Dyck, and his beloved dog Gus, along with many nieces & nephews. He was a World War II veteran, on the cleanup crew at Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan, and in the aftermath successfully fought Tuberculosis, after nearly 5 bedridden years in a sanitarium. He was a gifted engineer and inventor, owning and running a successful machine shop business for over 25 years, which he started at age 47, and held the patents on several innovative inventions. A devout Christian, he was a long time member of the Lutheran Church of the Triune God, in Brooklyn Center, MN, and Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bellevue, TN. He was a surrogate father and grandfather to many who saw his wit, warmth and intelligence as an open door to a relationship that for many were not possible with their own fathers. His appetite for life was with him till the end, when he was still planning trips and adventures to come. To say he will be missed is an understatement. He will live on in the hearts of many, and we consider ourselves lucky to have known him. Visitation will be 6-8pm Tuesday at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home. Funeral will be 11:30am Wednesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 800 Bellevue Rd. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the North House Folk School, Ken Vezner Fund, PO Box 759, Grand Marais, MN, 55604
