Kenneth Brown, Sr., affectionately known as "Shakey," passed away peacefully on September 1,2024, in Nashville, Tennessee. He was born on December 7, 1946, in Shackle Island Community, and lived a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to his family and country.
Shakey embarked on a commendable career, spending 27 years with Peterbilt, where his hard work and commitment were widely recognized. His dedication extended beyond the workplace; Shakey served honorably in the United States Army, joining in 1964. He was part of the elite Davy Crockett Nuclear Training Program in Ft. Riley, earning the respect of his peers as a mortarman. He retired with the rank of Specialist 4, proudly carrying the legacy of service in his heart.
Those who had the pleasure of knowing Shakey will remember him for his kind and loving personality. He was a man with a delightful sense of humor, always ready to make others smile. Shakey cherished spending time with his family, especially making memories while watching football games and racing, with a particular fondness for the Tennessee Titans.
His passion for the outdoors was evident in his hobbies; he enjoyed fishing, boating, and riding motorcycles, embracing every moment spent in nature and the thrill of adventure. Shakey took pride in his role as a loving family man, supporting his wife, Peggy Brown, with whom he shared 32 wonderful years with, along with his two children, Kim (Beno) Roath and Kenny (Karen) Brown.
Shakey’s love extended to his grandchildren: Jackee (Michael) Elmore, Cody (Elizabeth) Brown, Khristen Wilk, Markee Roath, and Allee Roath, as well as his six cherished great-grandchildren. They were a source of immense pride and joy for him. He also shared a special bond with his sisters, Tina Anderson, and Terri Bloodworth Tenut.
Shakey was a lifetime member of VFW 2120, proudly holding this distinction alongside his son, Kenny, highlighting his commitment to both family and community.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Brown and Sue Bloodworth Walker, and his siblings Danny, Donnie, and Jimmy Anderson. Each of these individuals played a significant role in shaping Shakey's life, and he fondly remembered and honored their legacy.
The memory of Shakey Brown, Sr. will be celebrated at Springfield Memorial Gardens, Funeral Home & Cremation Center on September 22, 2024. There will be a visitation from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a memorial service from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, where friends and family are invited to come together in remembrance of a truly remarkable man.
