John R. Stoutland, age 85 of Hendersonville, TN was born on April 9, 1928 to the late John and Olga Stoutland, and passed away on February 11, 2014. John was a United States Army veteran. He loved teaching adults in literacy programs, and he enjoyed classical piano.
Mr. Stoutland is preceded in death by his parents, 1st wife of 21 years, Barbara Ternet Stoutland, and son David Stoutland.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Margaret Sheehan Stoutland, sons, John Stoutland, Paul Stoutland, and Timothy Stoutland; and 3 grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations to be made to the Alzheimer's Association Mid-South Chapter, 4825 Trousdale Drive Suite 220 Nashville, TN 37220-1309, or to Carleton College 1-Cenrec One North College Street, Northfield, MN 55057-4070.
The family would like to express special thanks to the Nurses and staff at Skyline Madison Campus.
A life celebration ceremony will be conducted on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 11 am in the Chapel of Hendersonville Funeral Home, with visitation from 11 until service time at 1pm.
