Jimmy Shepherd (Roy James Shepherd, Jr.) was born in Springfield, Tennessee on July 1, 1953 as the second child of Roy James Shepherd and Jean Allen Shepherd. He left his earthly home on Monday, May 27, 2019.

On January 25, 1974, he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Teresa Ann Sloan. He worked at DuPont, Avco Aerostructures, and retired from Berry Plastics (Reemay) in Old Hickory in 2017. His many continued friendships with past coworkers were an important part of his retired life.

Jimmy loved fishing and especially enjoyed his family trips to Canada and Tims Ford Lake. He was an avid Vanderbilt Commodores fan and particularly loved football games with his children and friends. He lived on "The Ridge" for 45 years with Teresa and family nearby. He attended Forest Grove United Methodist Church.

His most treasured accomplishments were his two children, Jill (37) and Dustin (32) and their families. Nothing compared to the love he had for them and his grandchildren Averie (Jill) and Ellie (Dustin), and granddog Sam (Dustin). He adored time spent with them, fishing and beach vacations, and making everyday memories. He also deeply loved his children's families. He loved making breakfast for daughter-in-law Jessica and watching westerns with son-in-law Josh.

The majority of his Sundays were spent enjoying quality time with family. After gathering for a big meal, he adored playing ball and swimming with his great nieces and great nephew.
He will forever be remembered as a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather (Pappy), brother, uncle and friend.

In addition to his mother, Jean, he is preceded in death by his sister, Paula Shepherd and step-sister Valerie Chowaniec.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Teresa; children, Jill (Josh) Davis and Dustin (Jessica) Shepherd; grandchildren, Averie Blankenship and Ellie Sloan Shepherd; father, Roy (Helen) Shepherd; sisters, Pam (Richard) Eaves, Patricia Blain, and Perrie (Mark) Robertson; step-brothers Russell (Janice) Mann, Mark (Debbie) Mann; step-sister Carolyn (Jeff) Jaco.

A Life Celebration will be held on Saturday, June 1st at 11am with Brother Hubert Cunningham officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 30 from 2pm to 8pm, then again on Saturday from 9am until the time of service. Burial will follow the service at Springfield Memorial Gardens near his long-time friend, Randal Hand.

The family request in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Nashville Humane Association or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

These arrangements have been entrusted to Springfield Memorial Gardens, Funeral Home and Cremation Center: 4005 Memorial Blvd, Springfield, TN 37172:615-384-5437 www.springfieldfh.com
