Jimmie Tarkington, Sr.

TARKINGTON, Jimmie Hooper, Sr. Age 86, Nashville, September 17, 2008. Born on March 5, 1922. A WWII Veteran and awarded the Bronze Star Medal. He was retired from Keith Sinclair and a member of West End Church of Christ for many years. Preceded in death by daughter, Mickie Lamar Tarkington; parents, Elton Porter and Ella Virginia Hooper Tarkington. Survived by wife, Nina Sauls Tarkington; son, Jimmie Tarkington, Jr.; grandson, Sputnik Rushing; many nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be at 12:30 pm on Monday, September 22, 2008 at West Harpeth Funeral Home with Josh Barnett officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Adams, Jere Sinclair, Earl "Cab" Allen, Tom Allen, Dan Wolfe, Melvin Painter, Eric Tarkington, Larry Boardman, Skibo Tarkington, Quenton Pulliam and David Baka. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson St. Nashville, TN, 37203. Interment at Middle TN Veterans Cemetery.
