Ivie "Ike" Dalton, age 89 of Hendersonville and formerly of Greenbrier, passed away January 23, 2016 after a brief illness. Ike was born on August 30, 1926 in Marshall County, TN to the late Allen and Emma Dalton. At an early age, Ike went to work and began to help and support his family working on the farm. Even up until his passing Ike had cattle on his farm and still loved getting out on the property and working on his fences. In addition to the work on his farm he owned and operated the DX Service Station for many years; he loved his work at the station and continued being a mechanic even after closing down; people would be lined up to let him troubleshoot and work on their cars. Ike also loved to square dance and pick his guitar. His family enjoyed hearing him pick and sing "Walk the Line." In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Willie Mae Dalton. He is survived by his wife, Lavona Dalton of Hendersonville; daughters, Judy (Ronnie) Cox, Joyce (David) Justice, Dianne (Gary) Mayo and Beverly (John) Evans all of Greenbrier; 6 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Ethel Hulsey of Greenbrier and Bernice Smith of Lewisburg. A Life Celebration Service will be held on Thursday, January 28th at 2:00 P.M. from the Chapel of Springfield Funeral Home with Bro. Clifton Bennett and Bro. Randy Harmon officiating. Interment will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4-8 P.M. and on Thursday from 12 P.M. until service time.
