George N. Hanes, age 68 of Greenbrier, passed away May 31, 2016. Mr. Hanes was born on December 9, 1947 in Camp Kilmor, NJ to the late George Fletcher Hanes, Jr. and Mary Elizabeth Williams. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, an Army Veteran and proudly served in Vietnam. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Rudolph Hooks, Jr. Mr. Hanes is survived by his children, Rhonda Wyler, Gena Cathey (Jerry), Edward Hanes, Dana Crafton (Montgomery), Diane Hanes, George A. Hanes (Charity), MarLynn Hanes-Deranger (Chris), Travis Hanes and Sean Lauderdale; 16 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and sisters, Mary Queener (Harold) and Patricia McCoy (David). A Life Celebration Service honoring Mr. Hanes will be held on Friday, June 3rd at 11:00 A.M. from the Chapel of Springfield Funeral Home with Bro. Donnie Bryant and Bro. Gary Dillard officiating. Entombment will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens Garden Mausoleum with Military Honors. Visitation with the family will be on Thursday from 4-8 P.M. and on Friday from 9 A.M. until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Legion Post 45 in Greenbrier, TN.
