Faye Allen Carr, age 87 of Springfield passed away on April 27, 2022, at her home.
She was born Sandra Faye Allen on April 8, 1935 in Whitleyville, Tennessee the youngest of nine children born to the late Henry and Mary Ann Allen. Growing up in Hendersonville, Faye was an athletic young woman, she played girls basketball and then would change and cheer for the guys. After graduations it wasn’t long until she fell in love with a young man from Gallatin, Sid Carr, Jr., and would be married on August 14, 1955. They would be soon blessed with three of the prettiest girls.
Faye was described as a kind and nurturing lady. Her table was filled with some of the best cooked meals and there was always room at her table for others. From hand snapped peas to freezer “Garage” jam to her homemade biscuits and cornbread, everything Faye cooked was delicious. Through her generosity of all things and always being a gracious host, she would become known as “Mama Faye” not only to her family but to the community.
Over the years, Faye would continue to care for others by becoming a Pink Lady at Jesse Holman Jones Hospital. Weekend trips were taken to Land Between the Lakes with Sid and family and many trips to the beach where just some of her favorite trips. Sid, Faye, and the girls would spend Labor Day Weekend camping down at Shelbyville while enjoying the ten-day festivities of the Walking Horse Celebration. As time went on, Faye and Sid stayed closer to home enjoying afternoons at the ballpark watching their grandchildren play ball. Saturday afternoons you could find Faye in the floor playing cards with her grandchildren.
Mama Faye will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and faithful member of Rock Springs Baptist Church.
