Esther Wilmouth Osborne Crain, age 78 of Springfield passed away October 13, 2016 at her home. A lifelong resident of Springfield, Mrs. Crain was born on March 6, 1938 to the late Otis and Ruth Osborne. Esther always supported her children; was always quick to give love, advice and a glimpse of hope for better days. She encouraged them to work hard, always be good to others and most importantly, love and support each other, no matter what. She was a hard working lady, having worked as a seamstress and machine operator at Acme Boot, Blue Bell Boot, Southern Hill, Carroll Cab, Rainbow Design and eventually retired from Wilson Sporting Goods. She loved to sew and make any kind of dress, uniform or costume for her children; she even hand crocheted a blanket for each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Esther loved taking trips to Gatlinburg in the fall; she was a huge Elvis fan and enjoyed visiting Memphis 1-2 times a year. She enjoyed gardening and birdwatching from her favorite place to be, her patio. Esther was a longtime member and loved attending Calvary Baptist Church and making pot luck meals for church activities. Her cooking was famous among her family and others especially her chocolate pie, which her children used to hide pieces of, chocolate oatmeal cookies, coconut cake, greenbeans & ham and of course her famous dumplings. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Daniel Scott Allen and sister, Joann Randolph. She is survived by her children, Theresa Harrington, Micheal Crain, Kenneth Crain and Vicky Crain; grandchildren, Angela Harrington, Steven Harrington, Mark Harrington, Brandy Anderson, Jessica Crain Dorris, Joshua Phelps, Amy Maybray, Micheal Crain, Macy Binkley, Curt Sowell and Lacy Smith; 24 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth Ray Osborne and Roy Lee Osborne; and sister, Linda Wilson. A life celebration service honoring Esther will be held on Monday, October 17th at 11:00 A.M. from the Chapel of Springfield Funeral Home with Bro. Donnie Bryant, Bro. Gary Dillard and Mark Harrington officiating. Interment will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Steven Harrington, Mark Harrington, Curt Sowell, Joshua Phelps, Hershel Smith, Joey Dorris, Nick Wilson, Dwayne Wilson and Micheal Crain serving as active pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be on Sunday, October 16th from 4-8 P.M. and on Monday from 9 A.M. until service time.
