Elizabeth Wilson James, age 93 of Springfield, died peacefully Friday, February 14, 2025, at her assisted living facility in Beaver Creek, Ohio.

Visitation, Remembrance, and Interment services will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025. Visitation will be from 1-2 pm with a remembrance celebration from 2-2:30 pm inside the chapel at Springfield Memorial Gardens.

Graveside services will be at Springfield Memorial Gardens at 2:30 pm. The grave side service will be led by Father Jacoba Hurst from St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Springfield, TN.

Elizabeth is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Dr. Robert James, Sr., her mother Dorothy Nott Wilson, her father Samuel Burton Wilson, and her brother Burton Wilson.

Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Jody Anderson (Tim) of Dayton, OH; her son Robert James, Jr (Tammy) of Nashville, and her beloved cat, Trixie.

She is also survived by Sisters: Alice James of Meridian, MS; Marcia Griffis of Meridian, MS. Sister-in-Law: Lynna (Pastor Bill) Roberts of Seattle WA. Grandchildren: Elizabeth Fromm (Ryan) of Cincinnati, Jennifer Roberts (Chris) of Cincinnati, and Tim Anderson (Mallory) of Fairborn, OH. Great-grand children; Katelyn Fromm, Alex Fromm, Madelyn Roberts, and Emma Roberts. Nieces, nephews, a host of friends.

Honorary pall bearers include Robert James, Jr., Tim Anderson, Tim Anderson, Ryan Fromm, Chris Roberts, and Alex Fromm.

Elizabeth was born in Cleveland, MS to the late Dorothy and Samual Wilson. She was a loving Mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She graduated from Delta State University and became a teacher. In 1967 with her husband “Bob” and two children, she moved to Springfield to establish a new life. She became active in Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and volunteer work at Jesse Holman Jones Hospital. She was a member of the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church (organist), Short Story Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames, and the Robertson County Historical Society and Museum, as well as other social organizations.

Elizabeth enjoyed spending time with family, neighbors, and friends. She travelled with her mother and sisters. She remained active sewing clothes for her grandchildren, playing bridge with friends, square dancing, working in her yard, fishing, and traveling with her family.
