SMITH, Dorothy Jean Murphy, age 76 of Davidson County, currently residing in Portland, TN. Died October 21, 2009 at N.H.C. Health Care in Hendersonville, TN from Alzheimer's Disease. Mrs. Smith was born April 2, 1933 in Cheatham County, TN to John B. and Mai Yeargin Murphy. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 55 years, Jesse "Sonny" Smith; brother, William L. "Buddy" Murphy; sister, Ann Murphy Graves. She is survived by daughter, Darnell Babbitt; grandchildren, Lee and Alan Babbitt, of Portland, TN ; Missy Babbitt and Sheryl Behr of Indiana; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Charles Murphy of Wasilla, Alaska, Dan Murphy of Cross Plaines, TN; sisters, Marie Bill Garland and Velma Murphy of Nashville, TN; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 am, Friday, October 23, 2009 at West Harpeth Funeral Home. Interment at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.
