Debra Kay Pewitt age 60 of Springfield, passed away at Sumner Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family.

She was born on November 18, 1959 in Nashville, Tennessee to Cova Edward and Bernice Prater. Debra was a graduate of Maplewood High School and worked for many years as an Insurance Biller.

Debra had a fairy tale romance. She met the man of her dreams when she was just fourteen years old. Mr. William Wayne Pewitt was driving down the road in his 68' Mustang when he saw the prettiest girl riding her bike home. It wasn't long that they realized they had grown up just a street apart and went to the same high school.

After three proms and a make-believe wedding put on by mutual friends one Christmas, Debra and Wayne married on January 16, 1981. Debra enjoyed the little things in life, sitting around with NCIS and Friends on the television and just talking about her day or taking long drives in the cool summer air. Sundays were spent with her mom shopping.

Debra will be remembered as a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend

Debra is survived by her loving and devoted husband Wayne Pewitt; mother Bernice Prater, son Bradley Pewitt and his fiancé, Miranda Follmuth.

A Life Celebration will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at 2pm with Bro. Morris Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens with friends and family serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12pm until the time of service.
