David Kristian Coates, a beloved husband, father, and Grandpa Dave, passed away on October 14, 2024 in Nashville, Tennessee. Born on April 14, 1978, in Savannah Georgia, David lived a life filled with purpose, humor and a commitment to advocating for those who needed it most.

A veteran of the United States Army, David for eight years and retired with the rank of Sergeant. His military service instilled in him values of integrity and resilience, qualities he carried throughout his life. Following his time in the Army, David pursued a Master’s Degree in International Finance from the University of Phoenix, laying the foundation for a successful career as a Senior Director at Insurance Clearing House.

David was a man of many talents and passions. He was known for his dry wit and ability to make others laugh, always bringing joy into the lives of those around him. He enjoyed various hobbies, including video gaming, photography, and crafting with his wife, Joy. David was particularly fond of working with gadgets and was actively involved in setting up equipment for Joys Paranormal Investigations, a testament to his adventurous spirit.

Throughout his life, David created countless happy memories, including a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Greece and Venice, which brought immense happiness evident in his eyes. His proudest accomplishments included marrying Joy Coates, the love of his life, and fostering a beautiful blended family that flourished under his care and affection.

David's love extended deeply to his immediate family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Joy Coates; children, David Nathanial Coates, Jazamine (Chance) Alicea-Lamberth, Jorden Alicea, Jonathen Alicea-Coates, and Jenevieve Coates; and his beloved grandson, Nolan Alesander Walker. He was also a cherished brother to James David (Martha) Coates, and uncle to his nephew, John David Coates, and niece, Alice Coates.

He was predeceased by his parents, David Allan Coates and Paula Jean Galbreath, whose memory will forever be a part of his legacy.

A visitation will be held in David's honor on October 27, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Springfield Memorial Gardens, Funeral Home & Cremation Center located at 4005 Memorial Blvd, Springfield, TN, 37172.

David Kristian Coates’ spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched throughout his remarkable life. His gentle demeanor, coupled with fierce advocacy for fairness and justice, will be profoundly missed yet warmly remembered.
