Charles Douglas Lyons, age 86 of Hendersonville, passed away Saturday July 24, 2010. He was born in Stewart County in the Blue Spring Community on January 23, 1924. He served in the U.S. Army with the 16th Armored Division during World War II. He was a retired Electrical Engineer from IBM with over 35 years of service. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed nature and the woods. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Manola Lyons. He is survived by his wife, Georgia Lyons; sons, Charles W. Lori Lyons, Alan D. Lyons and Larry W. Lyons; grandchildren, Charles Robert Lyons, Cristen Lyons, Douglas Lyons and Leslie Lyons. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 A.M. on Tuesday, July 27 from the Chapel of Hendersonville Funeral Home with Dale Flowers officiating. Interment will follow in Hendersonville Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 – 5 and 6 – 9 P.M. on Monday, July 26 at Hendersonville Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will include Charles Robert Lyons, Douglas Lyons, Brandon Sharp, Jeff Brumley, Alton Scarborough, David Lyon, Terry Crutcher and Johnny Crutcher. Honorary pallbearers will be friends from IBM and the Luna Lane Church of Christ. Arrangements entrusted to Hendersonville Memory Gardens and Funeral Home, 615 824-3855.
