MITCHELL Bonnie H., age 82, died on Monday, November 12, 2012 in Methodist Hospice Residence in Memphis, Tennessee. From her birth on April 30, 1930 to her death on Monday, she nurtured people around her with love and faith. She was born in Tompkinsville, Kentucky to Dumas and Delma Slaughter Hestand and was the fourth of seven children. After graduating from high school, she attended Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in Nashville, Tennessee. While she was working at Baptist Hospital, she met Morris Mitchell, the son of one of her patients. After their first date which consisted of Morris taking Bonnie for a ride in his airplane, Bonnie and Morris were married on September 2, 1952 in Nashville. Morris and Bonnie initially moved to Dallas, Texas, and later to Chattanooga, Tennessee, Richmond, Virginia, and finally Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio where Morris worked as an engineer with Goodyear. Bonnie continued her nursing career at Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital. Morris and Bonnie were dedicated members of the Cuyahoga Falls Church of Christ. After retirement, the couple moved back to Nashville to be close to family members. Left to honor Bonnie and remember her are her four children: Pamela Mitchell-Clark Danny Clark, Roger Natalie Mitchell, Julie Mitchell Patrick Bohlen, and Nancy Warren Coleman; ten grandchildren; and five siblings. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Morris, and brother Bobby. Bonnie will be remembered as a loving, caring wife, mother and friend in the various communities and churches where she served. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 16, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 9090 Highway 100, Nashville, and the family will greet friends before the service from 11:00 to 2:00 pm.
