Betty Rogers Dotson

September 3, 1930 — July 1, 2023

Spring Hill, TN

Betty Rogers Dotson, born September 3, 1930 in Hickman Kentucky, passed on to Heaven from her beautiful, loving, Christian life on this earth on July 1, 2023 Nashville Tennessee. Betty was truly loved by all who ever knew her simply because of the genuine love, compassion and loyalty she had for others. She was a sacrificing wife, mother, and grandmother who, in her eyes, could never do for nor give enough of herself for her family and friends.

Betty graduated Western High School in Hickman Kentucky in spring of 1948. She married the love of her life, Leonard Howard Dotson, in Hickman on October 8, 1950. The two of them lived and loved life together in Hickman and Paducah Kentucky, and Ripley and Springfield Tennessee until Leonard passed on to Heaven December 7, 1997. Betty held unwavering assurance and faith through her belief in Jesus Christ that her loss was temporary and she would be reunited with Leonard one day in Heaven.

Betty was the “Mom” of four sons she raised to become men in whom she always expressed her pride. Her sons and daughters-in-law gave “Grannie” thirteen grandchildren, who she loved and cherished more than one could imagine. “Grannie” gave of herself without limits to spend time with her grandchildren. She babysat, drove them to and from schools, events and activities, doctor’s appointments, church, and, as with her sons, she attended all her grandchildren’s activities she could. Simply said, “Mom” and “Grannie” was the BEST EVER!

Betty worked hard in and outside the home her whole life. She worked many different jobs while raising her family through the years from babysitting at home to managing a professional child care service, “La Petite” in Springfield, TN. She worked the “graveyard shift” at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, KY and her last job was working for Everett Beasley Wholesale in Springfield, TN.

Betty is survived by her four sons, Howard Arthur Dotson (Joy), William “Bill” Rogers Dotson (Charisse), Phillip Len Dotson, Lee Rivers Dotson (Kathy). Betty also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren. Betty will also be deeply missed by her surviving brothers, Roy Ned Rogers and William Ted Rogers (Sharon).

Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband Leonard Howard Dotson, her parents Knox Jewel Rogers and Gladys Arnn Rogers, and siblings KJ Rogers, Jeanette Terrell, and Buck Rogers. Betty was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law Angela Sharpe-Dotson.

Today, we gather to celebrate the beautiful life of Betty Rogers Dotson, a Christian life of love, loyalty, and giving. Her memory will forever inspire us to be always giving of ourselves and to forever love more and unconditionally, as she taught us. As we say our goodbyes, let us always continue to strive to live our lives to make her proud.

“Mom” and “Grannie”, you are and will always be loved and missed. The void in our hearts and lives created by your absence will only be filled when we are reunited with you in Heaven. The life and love you gave to us will remain immeasurable and unequaled and will always be cherished. We love you forever “Mom” and “Grannie”.
