Austin Taylor Rigsby, aged 1 year and 9 months passed away on Saturday, September 17th at Children's Hospital of Pittsburg while surrounded by his family.
Austin was born on December 26, 2014 at 12:11 am. He was welcomed into the world by his beloved parents Tiffany Meyer and Brian Rigsby and three brothers.
Last November, through a request for prayer, Austin's story spread throughout Robertson County, Tennessee and across the nation. He lived every day as a special gift while becoming an inspiration to many as he journeyed through his medical treatments.
Austin enjoyed spending his day singing along with Minions, clapping, playing the drums, and learning to snap. During this last year, Austin had many unique opportunities such as a Super Heroes Party and attending Prom at Children's Hospital. Ultimately, his favorite part of the day was when his brothers came to play.
Austin will be remembered for being the perfect cuddle buddy and giving the best hugs of anyone around.
Austin is survived by his mother, Tiffany Meyer; father, Brian Rigsby; brothers, Christopher, George and Bailey; grandparents, George and Julie Sekrieh, Kristy Carter and Troy Rigsby and by a host of family and friends, including family in Syria.
A Life Celebration will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 2pm with Pastor Darren Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Springfield Memorial Gardens. The family encourages all attending the Celebration to wear something bright and colorful in his memory (Minion attire optional). The Family will receive friends on Friday, September 23, 2016 from 4:00 pm-8:00 pm and again on Saturday from 11:00 am until the time of service.
The family would like to thank the staff at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital, Cincinnati Children's Hospital, and especially Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh for their dedication, compassion and friendship during this time. You went above and beyond while Austin was in your care.
