Anne Murphey Head age 84 of the Sandy Springs Community, passed away on October 23, 2017 at Skyline Medical Center.
Born Virginia Anne Murphey on November 27, 1932 to the late Dewall P. and Mary Murphey in Sandy Springs. She was the third of four children born to the family. She was a graduate of Coopertown High School and met the love of her life when she was 14. Anne and Billy knew from the moment they met they had found the one. They were married on March 7, 1952and began their marriage on a farm in Stroudsville. She worked for ASCS in Springfield but mostly in Clarksville for 35 years.
Mrs. Anne was described as a loving and strong lady. She was a country girl and loved the simple pleasures of life, fishing with her family and growing flowers. Her children can remember spending many weekends camping and fishing and showing horses in between. She would spend hours helping her boys in the greenhouses planting and nurturing plants.
She loved traveling to Florida to see Eddie and Mirta, in fact if you were heading out she was right behind you with her suitcase in hand. However, she loved coming home to her community. At night you could find her and Billy playing card for hours like they have for years.
She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, and beloved Nanny.
Mrs. Anne is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, R.E. "Billy" Head; children, Rufus E. (Mirta) Head Jr. of Port St. Lucie, FL, Fred (Deborah) Head of Cedar Hill, Marilynda (Leslie) Dean of Springfield, and Dewall "Clay" (Lori) Head of Springfield; grandchildren, Marty (Samantha) head, Trase Head, Justin Dean, Monty (Miranda) Head, Alicia Head, Stephanie Head, Jenni (Nick) Carter and Elizabeth Head; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings, Junior Murphey, Dimple Price and Jimmy (Faye) Murphey.
