Amanda "Mandi" Young Marcum , a vibrant spirit cherished by many, was born on February 1, 1979, in Shreveport, Louisiana. She passed away on March 1, 2025, leaving behind a life marked by love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
Throughout her life, Mandi was known for her explosive personality and boundless energy. She was the life of the party, her loving and caring nature warming the hearts of everyone she encountered. Friends and family alike remember her as a free spirit with an open mind, someone who always had your back in times of need.
Mandi found joy in the simple pleasures of life, often brought to her by her children such as when they hid her coffee on the ceiling fan or spending time indulging in camping and cookouts. She had a passion for entertaining, bringing people together to create lasting bonds filled with laughter and joy. Her adventurous spirit was further reflected in her love for motorcycles, love for dolphins, fishing with her children, and her dedication as a Die Hard football fan, cheering for the LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints. Traveling to Chicago and Louisiana brought her immense joy, as she embraced new experiences with an open heart.
She is preceded in death by her mother Mary Ann Renois Young.
Among her proudest accomplishments was her role as a mother, and she delighted in being a beloved Minnie to her grandchildren. She is survived her children, Devin (Joshua Porter) Marcum, Jesse (Krislin Biggs) Young, Tristan (Kristen Brown) Marcum, Richard Davis and James Davis; grandchildren, Rose Porter, Maverick Porter, Kinley-May Young, Zahra Brown, Athena Brown, Beren Marcum, Bentley Davis; life partner, Robert Frye Foster Parents, Leonard and Gisela Burkhart; brother, Hugh Jubal Givens; sisters, Josette Givens, Megan Young, and Elinor Young; and a host of nieces and nephews.
As we remember Mandi, we celebrate not only a free-spirited individual but also a devoted family member and loyal friend whose life was a testament to the joy of loving deeply and living fully. She will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
