Alex Benson, age 29 of Greenbrier passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2019 at Summit Medical Center.

He was born William Alexander Benson on April 17, 1990 to Bill Benson and Tara Moore Thompson at Jesse Holman Jones Hospital in Springfield. Alex was a graduate of Greenbrier High School Class of 2008.

Alex was described as a calm, laid back kind of guy. His adventurous nature made for having a good time with his friends and family. His family was his life and he loved each of them dearly. His huge heart and his willingness to help others made trips with his church to build houses after natural disaster.

Between his beautiful blue eyes and his infectious smile, he could light up a room and turn your bad day around. When you became a friend of Alex's you became a friend for life, no matter the situation if you needed him Alex was there.

Alex will forever be remembered as a loving son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Kim Benson and aunt, Denise Wooten.

Alex is survived by his parents, Bill (Annaleise) Benson and Tara (Mike) Thompson; siblings, Trisha Benson and Johnny Coats; grandparents, Pat Benson and Freddy (Melanie) Moore; uncles, Sandy Benson and Terry (Ann) Moore; aunts, Tina (Russell) Williams and Lauren (Matthew) Stephens; cousins, Jeffery (Sable) Benson & Family, Ashley Benson & Family, Derek Moore, Austin Moore, Wayne Parrish, Amber Hajdu, Erica Wooten and Brittany Wooten; and longtime best friends, Jacob Henley.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill Benson, Johnny Coats, Billy Harrison, Jacob Henley, Jeffery Benson, Sandy Benson, Josh Dickey and Chris Bilyue.
