Margaret Vance Rhodes, 98 years of age, departed this life to be with her Lord on September 23, 2012 in Nashville, TN. She was born in Neshoba MS on December 26, 1913.
Margaret was preceded in death by Ralph, her husband of 54years; her parents, Bruce and Mattie Vance; her sister, Mary Lou Vance; her brother, Paul Vance; and granddaughter, Tammy Birchfield.
She leaves behind her daughter, Rebecca Birchfield Burt of Nashville, TN; her son, Bill Rhodes Rosalind of Covington, LA; grandchildren, Leslie Karl Dan and Leigh Ann Gravette Paul of Nashville, TN, John David Rhodes of Brighton, England and Stephen Rhodes of Berlin, Germany. Margaret is also survived by six great grandchildren from Nashville, TN: Rhodes Gravette, Banks Gravette, Vance Gravette, Cade Karl, Greer Karl and Layne Karl; and by brothers, Berlin Vance of Amarillo, TX and James Herbert Vance Anne of Union, MS. Also survived and fondly remembered by a number of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Margaret graduated from Peabody Teacher's College in Nashville, TN in 1937 and married Ralph Rhodes of Duncan, SC in 1939. Margaret taught school for thirty years in five different southern states. All through her life, she was a faithful member and volunteer in Baptist churches. While in Nashville, she was a member of Clear View Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and was His faithful follower.
Friends and relatives are invited to funeral services at First Baptist Church of Union, MS on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow the services at the Neshoba Baptist Church Cemetery in Neshoba, MS.
